Bmw is a very fine designed machine. Concept that German engineers make alive came through years of experience and conclusions - simple, reliable ultimate driving machine.

BMW's are friendly in services and repairs as designers made them easy to work on.

Most of problems in those cars come to a few categories;

1. Front suspension control arms - they wear down usually every 40.000 miles on all bmw's - usually symptoms are clunk noise when braking and visible front wheel movement.

2. overheating - all BMW's occasionally overheat either due leaking water pump, radiator or cracked coolant expansion tank.

3. check engine light on - of course check engine light comes for about 3000 reasons but most of causes is either vacuum leak in engine crankcase ventilation system or bad oxygen sensor. Sometimes lack of service is causing misfire who triggers check engine light on too. Its easy to diagnose on most cases - we just hook it up to BMW GT1 diagnostic system and we can find what is wrong in 5 minutes...

4. Oil leaks - especially on E36 3-series, E46 3-series, E39 - 5 series - power steering hoses like to leak fluid and engine oil pan loves to leak oil. Also valve cover gasket leaks either on straight 6 cylinder or v8 engines You can prevent engine oil leaks by using good quality oil and service it frequently.

5. oops that about it - I tried to describe the most common problems in modern BMW's. Of course you may experience almost anything going bad on your Bimmer but by servicing and maintaining your vehicle on time you decreasing risk of break-down a lot. Remember to protect your investment.
